SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- July 6, 2010 -- PLX Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:
PLXT), the leader in connectivity solutions for the data center and the home, today announced that its versatile PLX® USB Duet® solution is a key feature of the newest generation of Fujitsu LIFEBOOK MH380, providing high-performance USB 2.0 instant access to any PC with a standard USB cable. Fujitsu chose USB Duet to differentiate its products and showcase innovative new uses for its powerful Mini-Notebooks.
PLX's
USB Duet technology (Hi-Speed USB 2.0-compliant) is designed to allow mobile computers, such as the
LIFEBOOK MH380, to instantly share any Windows®-based PC's CD/DVD optical drive, thus simplifying tasks like installing new software. In addition, USB Duet enables easy file sharing and backup. USB Duet is pre-installed on the LIFEBOOK MH380 (available today in the Asia-Pacific market), and USB's wide use and simple plug-and-play capabilities allow instant usability without the need for special drivers or settings.
The LIFEBOOK MH380 is powered by the latest Intel® Atom™ N475 processor and features a 10.1-inch HD back-light LED screen, a unique dedicated ergonomic Scroll Wheel and enhanced wireless networking. In addition to USB Duet, the LIFEBOOK MH380 also features a robust family of functions, including picture rotate and zoom using the multi-gesture touch pad, and comes equipped with clear visual and voice VoIP communications via an integrated webcam, digital microphone and stereo speakers.
"Fujitsu has advanced mobile PC connectivity dramatically with the inclusion of PLX's USB Duet in its flagship LIFEBOOK MH380," said Gene Schaeffer, vice president worldwide sales and PLX. "We are pleased to have worked successfully with Fujitsu on this project and believe the company's customers will enjoy the convenience and ease of use this unmatched technology delivers to a mobile-computing market that's growing rapidly."
USB Duet was introduced in 2007 and has been used by leading manufacturers designing mobile computers such as ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs), netbooks and notebooks. The benefits of PC connectivity using USB Duet technology can also include Outlook® synch, the sharing of larger LCD displays and keyboards and many other functions. Beyond the PC, there are unlimited familiar market applications supporting standard USB technology, including HDTVs, set-top boxes, popular gaming consoles, printers, stereos and movie players, all of which can take advantage of USB Duet connectivity to share media, music, video and much more.
