PLX SWITCH TO PROVIDE PCI EXPRESS SLOTS IN HP PROLIANT SERVERS

PEX 8533 Switch Supports HP Servers' High-Performance, High Availability, I/O Expansion and Flexibility

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - October 15, 2007 - PLX Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLXT), the leading global supplier of PCI Express® (PCIe®) switch and bridge silicon, today announced that its PEX 8533 PCIe switch will be used in the new HP ProLiant DL580 G5 servers to create a high number of PCI Express slots.

PLX’s PEX 8533 is a high-performance 32-lane, six-port PCIe switch with industry-leading optimized features that include the lowest latency of 115ns, lowest power consumption of 3.3W, integrated Hot-Plug functionality, packet cut-thru, and highly flexible port configurations up to x16. This, combined with large packet memory (1024 byte maximum payload size) and non-blocking internal switch architecture, provide a full line-rate on all ports for performance-hungry applications like the DL580. The device is part of the PLX® ExpressLane® family of PCIe switch products that range in density from three to 12 ports and from five to 48 lanes.

"High-lane-count ExpressLane switches such as the PEX 8533 are optimized for high-end servers like the DL580," said David Raun, PLX vice president of marketing and business development. "The PEX 8533 met HP’s requirements for performance, manageability, port expandability and uptime."

"The performance and expandability of the HP ProLiant DL580 G5 server provides customers maximum application deployment flexibility," said Mike Gill, vice president, Server Platform Development, HP. "The PEX 8533 switch from PLX has helped HP to provide optimal performance and I/O flexibility in this industry-leading server platform."

The HP ProLiant DL580 G5 with PLX PEX 8533 is an ideal platform for virtualization. The server combines the new Intel® quad-core Xeon processor technology, maximum scalability and high availability features. The DL580 G5 also offers flexibility and serviceability in a versatile, 4U, rack-optimized form factor.
